growing out back this minute

Sadly there's not much of a spring bounty this year. But there are some things coming in that I have absolutely nothing to do with, which I'm going to be happy with for now.

Berries

Grapes

Flax (sprouted from chicken feed)

Kumquats (would be so nice in a gin & tonic on the patio)

And the SAD SAD state of our vegetable garden...

Empty boxes. Plus a few herbs. I'm trying to work on that in the next few weeks.

  1. Ohh...a kumquat in a gin and tonic, what a lovely idea. I just posted about gin and sparkling limeaid. It must be the warm ca weather that gets the mind wandering to g&t's! :-) p.s. Your wild garden is beautiful.

  2. I just planted all of my herbs and vegetables and they're all getting very big. I was so excited to get to eat it all and see where it all went and now we're moving...So my backyard will be like nature's bounty and I won't even be there to enjoy it. Sad story.

  3. I love how resilient plants are.

And, if you ever find yourself with a surplus of kumquats I happen to know someone who can literally eat them by the handful (hint, hint).

  4. Ah, someone else with wild berries in the yard. Heck, you have your hands/arms full... just snack on berries and enjoy the no-work bounty :) I too took a year off veggie gardening to focus on a newborn... this year, we're back strong. You will be too!
