Okay not really. But it's pretty close to ours! We're having a "vintage california garden party" in late october in palm springs, and our colors are black, white, and all shades of vintagey green. I'm so excited to see a similar idea on one of her beautiful inspiration boards.
Now I must go through all my favorites of hers and revisit for new inspiration.

martha's real weddings
oh, this is outstanding news. (I'm sure i'm late on this train, but still) Martha Stewart has posted real weddings. FINALLY. i mean seriously, what was the hold up? it's all we really want to see. and of course we've seen these in the mag already, but still. i like being able to visit them from the comfort of my computer.
These are some good-looking groomsmen, if you ask me. And their suits are amazing. I love how stylish they all look. I'm so over the rented tuxedo. Isn't that Vince from Entourage there in the middle?

our envelopes have arrived
so, for those wondering whether to calligraph or not... um, yes. You should. Look:
We found our box of envelopes waiting on our porch last night when we got home late (I was at work, cutting envelope liners like a good DIYer) and I was absolutely starved for dinner, but couldn't touch a bite until I looked at every single one. They are so beautiful and perfect and completely exceeded my expectations... which for the record, were fairly high to begin with. I am in heaven.
And now everything is starting to feel very real. Heading to the press check today at lunch for our invites. Nervous! I'm not a print designer so I'm perpetually scared of making a huge ugly mistake when I have to design for paper. But our envelopes turned out okay so that's making me feel a little better. You can see our little honey comb details in the photos above. We did a blind emboss on them that included some little details on the front and our return address on the back flap.
Heading into full-on wedding mode. As in go to work in anything I grab off the floor of the laundry room, unbathed, with dirty hair in the interest of saving all energy and time for wedding related projects.
Thank you again Jenna Hein for your amazing work!

passion fruit flowers for fun
Some pretty passion fruit flowers to start the week off. Aren't these the coolest? I love them. The vine grows like crazy, but it's so beautiful I have a hard time cutting it back. And look, a real passion fruit! Actually, I'm not entirely sure if it's real, in the sense that you can eat it, but I'm still excited for it.
And coincidence! Purple is so in these days... seriously, I am wishing I would have chosen plum for my bridesmaids dresses. Would have been so much easier on everyone. But we're in too deep now. 2 months from today. YAY! (i think).

I am the condom friend ever useful to you
Could not resist posting this video. This would have to be my halloween costume this year... if we weren't landing in Australia on October 31st as honeymooners (yesssssssssss!).
Seriously, the funniest thing I've seen in a while. I am going to watch again. For the 3rd time. Now.

DIY-ish invites!
Hi. I've been missing, I know. Not that there are many of you missing me and my little blog, but still... I've been feeling guilty. But SERIOUSLY how do other people do it? Plan wedding, work full time, keep blog updated, and attend other out of town weddings all summer? I mean at some point you have to start stripping out the non-essentials. So anyway, I have been busy with crafty wedding things, I swear. I'm in fact at this moment preparing my files for our most excellent printer here in LA, Aardvark Letterpress.
This is just a sneak peak, of sorts. I will most certainly shoot some pictures when I get them back from the printers, but they are still kind of cute in this first draft I did in photoshop. I originally planned to gocco everything, but after the save-the-date effot, I reconsidered. It was SO fun and satisfying but I realized that I don't have the time to do it all myself. Plus letterpress is bee-eau-tiful. Especially with hand-done calligraphy (yay jenna!).
I'm still planning to do our rehearsal dinner inserts and the menus, programs, coasters (must have), etc. with gocco, but most of that stuff's not for another month or so at which point I'm planning to have more time? Bad idea? So the DIY part is the design and the lining of the envelopes with our palm springs-y honeycomb pattern. The rest is going to be taken care of by highly skilled professionals, thank god.

big details... wedding style
Another shot from friend Laura's wedding in Georgia in June...
Vanessa was awesome enough to give me dibs on any photos I want to post here. Big yay. I'm going through them now so I can share this extremely unique, DIY, practical, beautiful, heat-felt wedding and weekend. I love that this message is the first thing Laura and her husband see, everyday, when they leave their house.
